Several high-profile sports stars, including Michael Jordon, LeBron James, Trae Young, Floyd Mayweather, Tiger Wood, Lewis Hamilton, and others have expressed barbarity at George Floyd’s death.
Several athletes, high-profile sports stars, have also contributed financially to pay grace incident and highlighting it one of the major losses of humanity. The former five-division world champion, Floyd Mayweather, via his promotional company (Mayweather promotions) have offered a check of $88,500 to cover the funeral expenses of George Floyd. An offer, which has been accepted by Floyd’s family.
Steve Bisciotti, the owner of the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens, has also expressed and said in his statement:
There is nothing I can say to ease the pain felt by African-American communities across our country. No words will repair the damage that has been done.
Furthermore, he also announced a donation of $1m for social justice reform. He further added that this fund will be released to the social organizations who are actively engaged in working for the social justice reformers in the country. And he said that former and current players who are associated with NFL will decide which organizations benefit the funds.
So many griefs, sympathies, and statements are coming from the world-class superstars of different sports. Which really needs to be highlighted. As these are not only statements of the elates/high-profiles, but these are the internal griefs and emotions of the good-hearted people.
Like many people, I am sickened, disheartened and shaken by the acts of racism that continue to overwhelm our society.
The most recent killing, involving George Floyd, is yet another tragic example of the discrimination that African-Americans face each day.
Now, more than ever, we must all strengthen our pursuit of positive change, as we stand with peaceful protestors around the country.
We must all seek to understand by listening better and learning more. We must all discover new ways to unite. We must all work to break the cycle of systematic racial injustice.
