Diljit Dosanjh Makes History and Rocked the stage this weekend by becoming the first Punjabi artist to perform at the Coachella music festival. Many South Asian fans gathered at the American music event to see him perform live.
Coachella Music Festival
The name Coachella, although it is also the name of a city in Riverside County, California, usually refers to the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The Coachella festival is held once a year in the city of Indio, also in Riverside County. Coachella is held during the last weekend of April. Since the first official Coachella festival in 1999, the event has grown in popularity to the point that the original two days designated for the festival have been extend to three days. It features art installations and has also become a major fashion hotspot for bohemian-inspired styles. It’s also pack with celebrities, from the artists who are performing to stars who just want to hang out. A-listers like Kendall Jenner, Jared Leto, Leonardo DiCaprio, and more are spot there almost every year.
Diljit’s Performance
Diljit is seen in the clip he share on his Instagram profile performing at the festival in tradition Punjabi look compromising, a black kurta, chadra ( a piece of cloth tied on the lower half of the body) and pagri (turban), Diljit added a contemporary twist to the look by including a pair of Jordans, yellow gloves and a Carhatt WIP Elmwood vest. Known for his love for luxury brands and Indian silhouettes, Diljit has never shied away from experimenting with his looks. Keeping Coachella’s look an extension of his roots and his identity, Diljit had everyone in the audience vibe with him as he set the stage on fire with his performance at the festival.

Celeb’s Reaction on His Performance
On Sunday, Diplo shared a video of himself from the musical festival in which he can be seen grooving to Diljit Dosanjh’s song Patiala Peg. Sharing the video, he wrote, “First Punjabi artist to perform at Coachella and y’all really thought I would miss it?”.Apart from his fans who shared photos and videos of the singer having a blast on-stage, many of Diljit’s co-stars and Bollywood friends took to their Instagram handles to share videos of the star and laud his achievement.
Diljit’s ‘Udta Punjab’ co-stars Kareena Kapoor and Alia Bhatt took to their Instagram handles on Sunday to share a reel of the star performing at Coachella, Arjun Kapoor also referred to Diljit as G.O.A.T on his Instagram story.
