NBA is likely to resume practice facility, basketball court disinfected after COVID-19 outbreak

This year is assumed to be very unfortunate for the NBA (National Basketball Association), which is one of the biggest sports events in the world. First, the tragic death of NBA’s legendary Kobe Bryant due to a Helicopter crash and then this Coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak. But now, NBA is likely to resume practice facilities under certain strictly followed SOPs.

On 29 January 2020, NBA has to postpone a big game between LA Lakers and LA Clippers to tribute to the legendary Kobe Bryant. As he died in a tragic helicopter crash incident. Later, on 13 March 2020, a match was fixed between Jazz and thunders also postponed because a player form Jazz roaster Rudy Gobert was tested positive of the COVID-19 which led the whole NBA in a risk, Thus, its around 55 days have been passed that the NBA has postponed its all schedules.

Now, NBA is likely to resume. the NEWS is coming that, the USA has allowed three teams to open their practice facilities under certain predefined SOPs. These teams include Portland Trail Blazers, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Denver Nuggets. But some sources also suggested that the fourth team Houston Rockets has also added into the list of the teams who can effectively open their practice facilities from Friday, i.e. 8 May 2020.

According to several social and discussion forums, It’s now getting frustrated as the athletes of world’s largest sports leagues like LeBron James, James Harden, and Anthony Davis sitting in their home and waiting for the moment the games resume. Meanwhile, fans are also getting so annoyed as NBA was the first league which stopped and postponed due to Coronavirus in March when Rudy Gobert and later Donovan Mitchell of Utah Jazz were reported COVID-19 Positive.

But, the wave of happiness and sigh relief has observed among the league stakeholders as ewll as fans. Because NBA is likely to resume. It’s when the USA has announced to open the practice facilities. But this will be under certain precautions and SOPs to be strictly observed. According to the league memo, limited staff and players will be required to have facemask inside team facilities. The players will have an exception from wearing the mask during the period when they will be engaged in physical activity.
