The last Ashra of Ramadan is based on last 9 or 10 days of the Holy month Ramadan. As the Islamic calendar is based on the appearance of the Moon. So, after every 29 or 30 days, moon shows-up so the month of the Islamic calendar changes. Ramadan is the most pious month in which every Muslim is expected to leave the materialistic world for a one month and should come closer to ALLAH Almighty. In a sense to obey and observe obligations including Huqooq-ul-Allah (Salat, Fasting etc) and Huqooq-ul-Ibaad (Good deeds and good behavior with the people).

There are three Ashra in the pious month Ramadan. Each Ashra is based on 10 days. The Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

It (Ramadan) is the month, whose beginning is mercy, its middle, forgiveness and its end, emancipation from the fire (Hell).

The Third or the last Ashra of Ramadan hs got much significance because of some important events of Islamic history occurred during these days. These events include the most pious night (Lailat-ul-Qadr) on which the first Holy verses of the Qur’an were revealed on Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The second most event is the Jummat-ul-wida (The last Friday of the Holy month Ramadan). So every believer of the Islamic school of thought is expected carefully and interestingly obey and observe obligations including Huqooq-ul-Allah (Salat, Fasting etc) and Huqooq-ul-Ibaad (Good deeds and good behavior with the people) during the last Ashra of Ramadan.

7 deeds you must do during third or last Ashra of Ramadan

Performing any good act during the Ramadan will be rewarded 70 times more than the normal routine days. So, these 7 things are really important for every believer to perform especially during the last Ashra of Ramadan.

  1. Observe I’tikaaf

Observing I’tikaaf during the last Ashra of Ramadan is considered as one of the basic norms of Muslim societies. Muslims believe that these 10 days they must dedicate completely for the sack of a realistic world. Believers used to sit in the masjid leaving all materialistic matters aside to gain the blessings of ALLAH Almighty.

During Ramadan, the mercy and the rewards for the believers increase 70 times to the normal month. Meanwhile, practising as per Islamic Shariat during the Lailtu-ul-Qadar will benefit the rewards equivalent to 83 years of doing good deeds. Furthermore, people observing I’tikaaf will automatically observe next 6 deeds of the list as well. Thus, observing I’tikaf during the last Ashra of Ramadan is really significant towards achieving precious gifts of Almighty ALLAH.

  1. Recite Holy Qur’an

Complete at least one Revision of Holy Qur’an during the last Ashra of Ramadan is highly recommended. This way, believers can complete a total two revisions of the Holy Qur’an. First revision during the first two Ashara, and the second revision during the last Ashra of Ramadan will reward most significantly.

  1. Observe Prayers with Punctuality

To offer 5 times prayer every day is obligatory on every human. Meanwhile, offering with the punctuality and with the Jama’at is much significant. Thus, believers must also try to offer obligatory prayer with the punctuality and also they must need to pray other Nawafil Namaz as well like Namaz-e-Ishraq, Namaz-e-Chasht, Namaz-e-Awabeen, Namaz-e-Tahajud, along with salat-e-Taubah. Every believer is highly recommended to pray salat-e-Tauba at least once a year. And praying it during the last Ashra of Ramadan creates a value addition in the rewards from ALLAH Almighty.

  1. Show Exemplary Character

Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ said:

Nothing will be heavier on the Day of Resurrection in the Scale of the believer than good manners. Allah hates one who utters foul or coarse language [Al-Tirmidhi]

ALLAH Almighty loves Huqooq-ul-Ibaad. Behaving well with other people as good as offering obligatory prayers. Thus, every human being must try to speak less and softly, do not hurt others physically or verbally, be polite with other people during their whole life. But, during the last Ashra of Ramadan, believers must try to take care of this element as one of the basic and core deeds to perform during the last Ashra of Ramadan. Because this Ashra is full of gifts and rewards from the ALLAH Almighty for believers.

  1. Give Charity

Giving charity is a 5th highly recommended deed to be performed during the last Ashra of Ramadan. Because during Ramadan, the mercy and the rewards for the believers increase 70 times to the normal month. Meanwhile, practising as per Islamic Shariat during the Lailtu-ul-Qadar will benefit the rewards equivalent to 83 years of doing good deeds

  1. Payback to Nature

Planting trees, flowers, plants, and watering them during the last Ashra of Ramadan is 6th of the list and essential to perform for all believers.

  1. Keep reciting Dua for third Ashra

For all three Ashra of Ramadan, there are few recitations recommended by the Islamic Scholars. The third Ashra is to get humans free from the hellfire (Nijaat). Thus, believers must need to keep reciting and keep asking mercy from the Almighty ALLAH from the hellfire. Below all three lines of the three Ashras are given.

Dua for the First Ashra:

رَبِّ اغْفِرْ وَارْحَمْ وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الرَّاحِمِينَ

Transliteration: Rabbigfir Warham wa’anta Khair ur Rahimeen

Translation: My Lord, forgive and have mercy, and you are the best of the merciful. (Al-Mu’minun:118)

Dua for the Second Ashra:

أسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ رَبي مِنْ كُلِ ذَنبٍ وَأتُوبُ إلَيهِ

Transliteration: Astaghfirullah rabbi min kulli zambiyon wa atoobu ilaiyh
Translation: I ask forgiveness of my sins from Allah who is my Lord and I turn towards Him.

Dua for the Third/ Last Ashra of Ramadan:

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي

Transliteration:Allahumma innaka afuwwun tuhibbul afwa fa’fu annee

Translation: “O Allah, You are Forgiving and love forgiveness, so forgive me”
