Biden Calls Putin a Killer, Moscow recalls its ambassador in US

Biden in an ABC interview, said “I do” when asked that if he believes that Putin is a killer. That has prompted the Russia to recall its ambassador from Washington for consultation.

President Putin said on Thursday while speaking on television that it takes one to know one, in response to the remarks of Biden. It has taken the already poor relationship of Washington and Moscow to a new post-cold war low.

Biden further described Putin has no soul, and he would pay a price for the Russia’s alleged meddling in the Nov-2020 US presidential election, that Kremlin denies. Looking at the past, same allegations were made on Russia for meddling in 2016 US presidential elections.

Washington may put sanctions on the Russia over the alleged meddling in election and hack. Russia is aware of that and preparing itself for the possible sanctions.

whereas, Moscow recalled its ambassador for consultations after Biden’s interview, a highly unlikely move.

In response to Bide, Putin said, “I remember in my childhood, when we argued in the courtyard with each other we used to say: it takes one to know one. And that’s not a coincidence, not just a children’s saying or joke. The psychological meaning here is very deep.”

He added, “We always see our own traits in other people and think they are like how we really are. And as a result we assess (a person’s) activities and give assessments.”

Putin said, he knew the US president personally, and wished him good health, in apparent reference to his age i.e., 78.

After taking office in January, Biden was quick to extend a nuclear arms pact with Russia. However, his administration said that it will be more tougher with Russia than the US did during the term of Donald Trump in office, and only engage when there is a tangible benefit for the US.

Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, “These are really bad remarks by the US president. He has clearly shown that he doesn’t want to improve relations with our country.” Commenting on Biden remarks, Pestov told reporters, “We will now proceed from that. Of course, this hasn’t happened before in history.”

Deputy Chairman of parliament’s upper house, Konstantin Kosachyov said that Moscow’s step, recalling its ambassador, was reasonable under the circumstances.

Furthermore, Kosachyov said in his facebook post, “I suspect it will not be the last one if no explanation or apology follows from the American side.”

A watershed moment in a Russia-US ties, said Kosachyov. “This kind of assessment (by Biden) is not allowed from the mouth of a statesman of such a rank,” he added.
