TTP Terrorists Attack on Chinese Engineers Shot Dead in Karachi Raid

TTP Terrorists Involved in Attack on Chinese Engineers

Gofrixty [29 July 2025] – In a significant development, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has killed three militants belonging to the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in an encounter in Karachi. These militants were the brains behind the fatal attack on Chinese engineers that occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa last year.

The raid was carried by CTD in the dead of night in Manghopir in Karachi upon a confirmed intelligence tip-off. The operation took several hours and culminated in a brutal gunfight. All three attackers were gunned down. A key player among them was a mastermind who was involved in the planning and execution of a suicide attack, which resulted in the killing of five Chinese nationals and one Pakistani driver.

The CTD team also seized weapons, hand grenades, suicide jackets and a notebook containing names of future targets. The terrorists were perceived by the investigators to have penetrated from across the Afghan border, and to have found a secure haven in Karachi. One of the dead militants had earlier been listed as a most-wanted terrorist with a bounty on his head.

The attack on the Chinese engineers was a shock here, and in China, last year. The engineers were employed on a hydropower project and had been heading to work in a convoy when a suicide bomber drove a vehicle packed with explosives into their transport. That one did heavy damage and led to seriously alarmed diplomatic consternation.

Since then, Pakistani security forces have conducted a number of operations to catch the perpetrators. This latest Karachi raid is a major success and is an indicator of success in apprehending Aman ki aasha terror cells being met in urban instead of remote terrain.

More arrests and raids are likely to follow in the coming days, authorities said. They also emphasized that all-out efforts will continue to be made to protect Chinese and other foreign staff.

This is a strong message that those who are hitting peace and development projects in Pakistan will not be safe from justice.
