Gofrixt [18 July 2025] – A dramatic video footage from Rawalpindi has gone viral which showed a heroic moment during recent heavy monsoon flooding.A Pakistan Army helicopter rescued a family that was stranded on the roof of their flooded home, which was submerged by floodwaters. The dramatic rescue occurred in the area of Chakri Road, where flooding engulfed entire communities along water levels roared and damaged homes, roads and fields.
The family, which was taken by surprise, had climbed up to the roof to escape the fast-moving flood. The water was rising and their situation was becoming more precarious. Witnesses said the flood occurred without warning, passing through the area in a matter of minutes. With no way to flee and no relief in sight, the family could do nothing but wait for help to arrive from the army.
A helicopter belonging to the Pakistan Army arrived at the site despite inclement weather. The pilot willed the helicopter to hover above the flooded house as the rescue officer was lowered via rope.One by one the rescuer made sure each of the family were secure and took them to safety. On the ground, people tearfully watched the rescue with prayers and cheers, calling it the miracle.

Once the family was in safety, medical teams inspected them for injuries. Thankfully none of them were injured, but they were shaken up. Residents hailed the army team for risking their lives in order to save others, describing them as “real-life heroes”.
Punjab has been badly affected by flooding in recent days. Several regions are still submerged, and several families have been removed to safer areas. Recovery work is also going on in other affected districts. The army and local emergency teams are working day and night to save lives, deliver food and restore access.
Authorities have warned people living along rivers and in low-lying areas to remain vigilant. More rain is forecast in the next few days. The Rawalpindi rescue video has now become a viral sensation, encapsulating triumph and courage under crisis. It also serves to remind us all of the courage and dedication displayed by those who protect the country in times of threat.
