Islamabad, (Gofrixty News Correspondence / Pakistan News | 22nd January 2021) | Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi announced on Thursday that China has offered half a million doses of COVID-19 vaccine for the people of Pakistan as another gift to strengthen the ties and friendship between two neighbouring countries. Shah Mehmood Qureshi further added that the counterpart of China’s foreign minister Wang Yi has confirmed that China wants peace and property in the region. And gifting COVID-19 vaccines is an example of a good gesture and goodwill for humanity.
The vaccines will be airlifted soon as Pakistan will send its cargo plane to China. Remember that Pakistan’s DRAP institute has also confirmed orders of purchasing COVID-19 vaccination doses of at least 1 million form two of the China-based companies (Sinopham and Oxford-AstraZeneca) as the first phase towards vaccinating the people of Pakistan. The statement was confirmed after an announcement came from Special Assistant to the PM Pakistan on Health Dr Faisal Sultan the i.e. 20th January 2021.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi also added that Pakistan is the first country that receives a gift of COVID-19 vaccines from China as a “goodwill gesture”. It is because both the countries have long term strategic ties and China-based role to play for each other’s development and progress towards peace and prosperity.
Qureshi also tweeted and thanked the counterpart of China for in time prosperous gift “as a goodwill gesture” and wrote, “Always great to speak to my friend, His Excellency FM Wang Yi,” In the tweet thread, he also added that China has always helped people of Pakistan in the times when they needed it at utmost. Furthermore, in the fight against Coronavirus outbreak, the Chinese counterpart offered much needed technical assistance and health and science expertise.
