Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is finally allowed to fly to Europe again. The European Union has lifted its four-year ban, which was first imposed in 2020. This decision follows major reforms by Pakistan’s aviation authorities, including stronger pilot licensing systems and improved safety checks.
The ban had caused serious financial damage. PIA lost access to key European routes, affecting its income and global reputation. With the ban now lifted, PIA can restart flights to cities like Paris, Milan, and Oslo. The airline hopes this will help it recover from years of heavy losses.
However, not all problems are solved. The United Kingdom still has restrictions on PIA and other Pakistani carriers. Despite progress, the UK has not yet removed Pakistan from its air safety list. British regulators say further inspections and approvals are needed before any decision.
This delay is a major setback. The UK is one of PIA’s biggest markets, especially for flights to London, Birmingham, and Manchester. Without access to these routes, full recovery remains out of reach. Pakistani officials are working with British authorities to resolve the remaining issues.
