Now an new theory is being shared online that alleges the Avatar 3 trailer was actually made in secret, thanks to a fancy-pantsy GenAI tool called Higgsfield WAN Camera Control. The claim has already circulated widely on social media, where users are calling the technology “the first AI that actually directs films.”

Higgsfield’s most recent model, WAN 2.5 can take a single photo and turn it into an entire cinematic video. It introduces realistic camera movement, ambient sound and even progressive facial expression that remains constant across every frame. The model reportedly allows users to select particular camera styles, such as dolly shots, 360 degree pans and handheld movement. It lends a professionally directed movie scene look to the final video.

On YouTube, many of the tech creators now use show clips demonstrating WAN’s knack for producing uncanny lifelike mini-films. Due to its realism, some fans even started to think that the Avatar 3 trailer was created using this AI tool. So posts crowing about this began appearing on X and Instagram in early October 2025, touting it as “the secret behind Hollywood’s most cinematic trailer.”

STILL, NO EVIDENCE The rumor, however, is not official. James Cameron has publically stated that Avatar 3: Fire and Ashs production did not make use of generative AI. He even said that the film will open with a title card certifying no AI was used in making it.

And yet the rumor demonstrates just how far AI video tools have come. My contribution has been work on a type of language. And we are releasing a model which isn’t just to fill out the AI research jamboree parade. People like Higgsfield WAN 2.5 can now make short movie-like clips complete with camera control, sound and dialogue. Something that was impossible only one year ago. And whether it did touch Avatar 3, this technique suggests a future when AI might serve as more of an actual film director’s assistant.
