Since yesterday a hashtag of RS 5 was trending on Twitter in Pakistan. That was because of the recent increase in the price of the patrol by Rs 5 by Pakistan’s governing bodies. In response to the recent price hike, Murtaza Wahab Siddiqui, Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh on Law & Environment, Spokesperson Sindh Government – Deputy Information Secretary, PPP Sindh and Former Senator, commented on Asad Umar’s Tweet that he published on February 1, 2016.
Asad Umar wrote when he and his party (PTI) was in opposition and PML(N) was in power in Pakistan. He wrote that PML(N) government was charging 52% as total tax on patrol only. In his thread, he also indicated the exact amount of the taxes that the government charged to the consumers at that time.
In response to Asad Umar’s 2016 thread, Murtaza Wahab commented and requested Asad Umar to do the same mathematics now because at the moment he and his party (PTI) is in power and currently responsible for the price hike and decision-making process.
Asad, without hesitation, responded immediately to Murtaza Wahab with the mathematics that he requested. Where he mentioned the base price of the refined patrol along with taxes that government apply to the consumers and there he showed a big difference in the prices in comparison to what it was being charged by the previous government i.e. PML(N) in 2016.
