Facebook, a tech giant, has acquired another giant startup GIPHY: an animated graphics startup, one of a genuine and most liked GIF Search Engines to integrate with Instagram and other social network platforms owned by Facebook.
A California based startup GIPHY was sold in $400 million, exactly the same amount which Apple paid in 1997 for NeXT Inc (One of a Steve Jobs startup after he was forced out of Apple along with his few co-workers).
The common in GIPHY and Steve Jobs startup NeXT acquisitions is that both these startups are California based and both sold to the great tech giants in exactly the same amount $400 million.
GIPHY is a very popular GIF search engine and a database that allows users to search and share for short twisting videos with no sound and thus called animated GIFs (Graphics Interchange Format).
Facebook has just issued a statement saying that GIPHY, a market leader in the visual expression and creation, will join Facebook as part of the Instagram team. Another statement from GIPHY’s official Twitter account has also been passed confirming the NEWS and expressing the excitement of GIPHY being acquired by Facebook and claimed that it will soon join the Instagram team.
