TTP’s commander of Tehreek-e-Taliban Abdul Wali also known as Omar Khalid Khorasani has been killed in a landmine blast along with his companions in Afghanistan.
Khorasani and his companions including Mufti Hassan and Hafiz Dawlat were killed after their vehicle hit a roadside mine in the area of Afghanistan’s Paktika province.
Due to its impact, the blast caused his death.
TTP officials said that the car carrying Omar came under attack in the eastern Paktika province near the Barmal district on Sunday evening.
Who was Omar Khalid Khorasani?
Khorasani, who belong to the Mohmand tribal district, was consider a member of the TTP top hierarchy. Hafiz Dawlat, from the Orakzai tribal district, was considered to be an important member of the group
Khorasani later dissolved Jamaat-ul-Ahrar and rejoined the TTP in the group’s drive to reunify several estranged groups.
In 2014 he formed a separate, more-militant faction of the Taliban known as Jamaat-ul-Ahrar which claimed responsibility for some of the deadliest attacks in the country — including a suicide bomb in Lahore on Easter Sunday in 2016 that killed 75 almost people.
