Figuratively, the meaning of Ziarat valley is a place of pilgrimage, while local names of Ziarat valley were ‘Gwuski and Kowashik’. In 1886, the Gwuski & Kowashik was changed into existing name Ziarat OR often known as Ziarat Valley.

The word Ziarat drove from a shrine which means a holy grave of a man. The legends revealed that a Sufi man named Kharwari Baba lived in this valley. After his death, he was buried here. The saint belonged to a Sarangzai Kinsfolk and his real name was Mullah Tahir. Afterwards, he converted himself into followers of Nana Sahib. There are few other graves existing in the famous graveyard of Ziarat valley, which belongs to the locals of the valley. The tomb of Saint, after whom Ziarat has been named, has the tomb just at the 8km distance from the centre of the Ziarat valley. A large number of people and tourist all around Pakistan come and visit the saint’s shrine, offer ” Fatiha & chadars”, and many of them visit there to ask “manats” a local word which means ‘desires’.
Talking about best tourist places in the world, world tourism organizations, sustainable tourism, famous tourist attractions, and best tourist places near me; and would not mention the name of beautiful Ziarat valley, I must say, it would be a big injustice with the tourism department and with the pure beauty of nature.
Pakistan is full of beautiful tourists places or beautiful natural sceneries which attracts visitors and tourists with fascinating loveliness. Ziarat valley is also counted among these beautiful tourists places. Ziarat valley has a huge significance due to the presence of pre-historical treasure of Juniper Forest. It is located about 122 km from the capital city of Balochistan, Quetta. Ziarat valley is among the best tourists places in the world, very popular picnic point, and it is 8,200 feet above from sea level.
The founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who was suggested to spend the last days of his life in this place, stayed here. This is why the valley is also known as the last residency of the founder of Pakistan. This valley was selected for Muhammad Ali Jinnah because the climate of Ziarat valley is very pleasing, atmosphere is healthy and favourable to provide ease to the soul. Particularly, when people feel stress, they come to Ziarat valley to get some fresh air and enjoy the beauty of nature.
The residency of Jinnah is still well maintained. Tourists can experience the essence of Jinnah’s living style. Quaid’s bedroom, dining room, the “Sehan” all the old furniture is placed in a way that it feels like Jinnah is still living somewhere in his residency. For this incentive, Ziarat possesses a national monumental status in Pakistan.
The hill of Ziarat valley is surrounded by the number of ancient Juniper trees. These Juniper trees of Ziarat called the treasures of Ziarat because some of the trees of Junipers are 5000 to 7000 years old and still alive. In the snowy season of winter, the trees of juniper look beautiful. Substance ephedrine has huge medical importance and it is extracted from the herb of the ephedra Sinica found in Ziarat. This substance specially used in the syrups of the cough.
The refreshing greenery, the following streams and the waterfalls can take your heart away and make you feel in heaven. The orchards of cherries and apples are very sweet and tasteful. A very interesting fact is that the visitors and tourists are free to eat these delicious fruits by plucking directly from the trees.
The hotels and ‘Dhabas’ serve tourists all kind of Desi (local) dishes and drinks. The `Sajji´ is a native dish of Ziarat valley and famous among the tourists. The Ziarat handicrafts, Shawls and other decoration pieces are very famous which are hand made by the hard-working women of Ziarat. Thus, it makes this place among the best tourist places in the world.
Ziarat’s snowfall is famous all over Pakistan. In December and January peoples from all over the country and from other countries as well come to enjoy that rare scenes of snowfall.
The law & order situation in Ziarat is excellent for sustainable tourism. Tourists feel free to explore Ziarat and its beauty. Ziarat considered being the cold area, so in winter it can cross the feeling of Moscow’s coldness but in summer its weather becomes moderate and pleasant.

At first, the Quaid-e-Azam residency which was built in 1882, is a terrific place to visit which still reminds one of the times when the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah spent last days of his life. A walk to Chashma is favourite amongst joggers and those who wish to have a pleasant walk. Situated 6 km from Ziarat the ‘Prospect Point’ offers breathtaking view of the valley.
