Act of Kindness in the Court
Abu Dhabi, May 30, 2025 – Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, has honored a local judge who showed remarkable empathy toward an Afghan family during a recent court case. This recognition highlights the UAE’s strong focus on fairness and compassion within its legal system.
The judge, whose identity remains confidential because of court rules, was in charge of a case involving an Afghan family at risk of deportation. The family had overstayed their visas due to tough financial and health issues. Instead of handing down a harsh verdict, the judge paused the case to reach out to authorities and search for a solution that would help the family.
He managed to secure short-term legal protection for them and helped connect the family with a social support group. This group is now helping them find a place to live and get medical help for their ill child.
Praise from the President
President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed commended the judge’s decision, describing it as a true example of the UAE’s core values—compassion and justice. In an official statement, he said, “Our courts stand for law, but also for kindness. This judge represents the leadership and understanding we work to achieve.”
