Gofrixty [4 September 2025] – 15-year-old Pinoy student develops shoes that generate electricity when you walk Not just powering small gadgets, the discovery shows how simple acts can be converted into a valuable generator of renewable energy.
The student engineered the shoes to include inbuilt devices that capture the power generated from each step. The shoes, when the wearer walks, transform mechanical energy into electric power. This power can be harnessed for recharging of a cell phone or similar small appliances via an attached port. The proposal is not just practical, but sustainable, which makes it doubly useful in places without reliable access to electricity.
It came out of watching how much energy people use up in walking every day. Deciding that all that power shouldn’t go to waste, the young tinkerer put it to good use instead. By turning ordinary shoes into a mobile power generator, the project shows how routine activities can be used to produce clean power.

The invention has already been praised for its blend of innovation and green consciousness. Teachers and mentors say the project is an example of how young innovators can look for solutions to real-world problems. Elsewhere, where power cuts are frequent, the shoes might be a lifeline for keeping phones charged and communication open.
