Gofrixty [20 September 2025] – At VivaTech conference in Paris, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang surprised the viewers by unveiling Disney’s next-gen robot project. A costumed droid named Grek was then brought onto the stage and made an electrifying dance partner, even posing for pictures with fans, making its mark as the star of the show.
Created by Disney Research with help from Nvidia, Grek is one of the stars of the ambitious BDX droid project. These robotic performers move gracefully, express emotions, and interact with people in a natural, engaging way. Grek’s cameos were a celebration of Nvidia’s new Newton physics engine that applies reinforcement learning in simulation to teach robots balance, how to move gracefully, and to do so safely before they perform for real.

Some aspects of the robot’s design — like its cameras, sensors and GPUs that allow it to react in real time — are high-end. Seeing it work its magic on stage underlined how the creative potential of technology can marry with design to make machines that don’t merely work but also entertain.
