Gofrixt [19 July 2025] – An explosion ripped through a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department training facility early Wednesday, killing at least three people, local authorities said. The explosion took place during a routine training exercise with stored materials at the department’s advanced tactical training center.
The explosion occurred just after 6 a.m. as workers and trainees were gathered at the facility in Castaic, about 40 miles north of downtown Los Angeles, officials said. Witnesses said they heard one big boom before seeing smoke billowing out on the grounds.
First Responder pulled up within minutes.The explosion caused small fires that firefighters extinguished within minutes. EMS treated multiple patients at the scene. They confirmed three people dead at the scene and transported at least five of the injured from the scene to nearby hospitals, including one in critical condition.
Later in the morning, Sheriff Robert Luna went to the location and expressed condolences to the families of the victims. He described the explosion as a “tragic and sudden loss” for the entire department. He, too, promised a complete inquiry into the cause of the accident.
