Gofrixty [2 September 2025] – Rostec has supplied the Russian data with another batch of modernized BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles. These vehicles now come with factory-installed anti-drone protection. The upgrade is designed to make armored units safer against modern air threats.
Each BMP-3 has removable anti-drone grills, so-called “cope cages,” added to the turret and sides even if it would not be particularly effective. These additional layers can help to offset the impact of drone-delivered munitions and fragments before they have a chance of reaching the main armor. With the addition of this barrier, crews get more time and another layer of protection against one of the most prevalent threats on today’s battlefield.
This cover consists of flame-resistant materials and absorbed the radiation of radar and flare that makes the BMP-3 IMG more difficult to identify. With this system, the car has more ability to run in places when surveillance drones and heat-seeking weapons are abundant.
