Trump Is Reportedly Furious with South African President Over Lies About ‘White Persecution’ in Oval Office Meeting – The Live Guys Network

United States President Donald Trump accused his South African President over lies about ‘white Persecution’ counterpart, Cyril Ramaphosa, of genocide in a heated May 21, 2025 Oval Office meeting, pushing already-strained diplomatic relations to the brink.

The meeting, meant to help mend fractious relations, instead took a turn when Trump started showing videos and articles about white South African farmers being killed as part of a systemic campaign of violence. One video included the contentious song “Dubul’ ibhunu,” which Trump believed was an incitement to hostility toward whites. He also published pictures which he claimed depicted mass graves of white farmers, but these were proven to be unconnected footage from the Congo.

The accusations were denied by South African President Ramaphosa who said that, although crime is a major problem in the country, it does not just affect his people but the nation as a whole. He emphasised that the South African government never advocates for any form of racism or racial persecution and that Black land reform programs are carried out in a constitutional manner to redress historical imbalances.

The conflict also comes on the heels of a confrontation between Cyril Ramaphosa and Donald Trump after the latter issued an executive order in February of 2025 offering refugee status to 59 white South Africans – a political manoeuvre that was widely condemned for being politically motivated and perpetuated on a hoax. It has been met with widespread condemnation, with critics saying Trump is contributing to a racial narrative that could challenge diplomatic relations all over the world.

Meanwhile, even as tensions mounted, Ramaphosa took a diplomatic approach, saying he would rather go on talking with and working together with the two countries. He later called the meeting a “very good one,” underscoring the need to talk over disagreements.
