Gofrixty [24 July 2025] – Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who is most famous for his role as son Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, has passed away at age 54. He died on July 20, 2025 visiting his family in Costa Rica. Warner drowned after being swept out to sea by a treacherous rip current while swimming with his 8-year-old daughter near Playa Grande beach. Surfers saved his daughter, but they couldn’t save Warner. Emergency workers attempted to resuscitate him with C.P.R., but he was declared dead at the scene. A forensic examination determined that he died of drowning.
Warner gained fame in the 1980s on The Cosby Show as the show’s only son, which aired from 1984 to 1992. His portrayal of Theo also brought him an Emmy nomination in 1986. In the years since, he’s kept on acting in shows such as Malcolm & Eddie, Reed Between the Lines, Suits, The Resident and Accused. He earned a Grammy Award in 2015 for his contributions to the song “Jesus Children,” by Robert Glasper and Lalah Hathaway.
