Kawasaki Reveals Hydrogen-Powered Robot Horse

August 2025] – Kawasaki has unveiled a hydrogen fuel cell powered horse-like robot with bright blue eyes that you can ride on. The firm demonstrated the concept as a vision of what future mobility could be like, with robotics fused with clean energy, at Expo 2025 Osaka.

CORLEO is especially eye-catching because it is powered by a 150cc hydrogen engine which is responsible for generating the electricity that is used to power each of its legs. And unlike polluting tailpipe emissions, it’s producing only water, so it’s an eco-friendly step toward cleaner transportation. The bot also features hooflike feet, enabling it to walk with ease across various terrains, such as grass, gravel, and bumpy ground.

Kawasaki conceived CORLEO to resemble horseback riding. Riders can voice- or gesture-control the machine, and a display screen comes built-in that will give you details about hydrogen levels, balance and GPS. This human-centered approach, engineers say, helps futuristic technology feel more natural or exciting.

While Kawasaki released impressive video of CORLEO moving and jumping, the version at Expo 2025 is not yet operational. The model can stand up, recline and show off the design features, but the full mobility is currently just at the concept stage. The company is also looking at CORLEO as a long-term project, with 2050 a possible horizon for such advanced mobility.

Kawasaki invests heavily in hydrogen technology, and CORLEO reflects the company’s forward-thinking approach to sustainability and innovation. By designing a robotic horse instead of a traditional vehicle, the company shows that the future of mobility may extend beyond cars and motorcycles.

Kawasaki is providing more than machines with CORLEO. It induces visions of how people might travel in the decades ahead — not on engines powered by fossil fuels, but on hydrogen-powered robot companions.
