Amer Al Mahdi set out to fulfill his dream of performing Hajj but faced a serious challenge before even boarding his flight.At the airport, officials detained him because his last name, “Al Gaddafi,” brought extra scrutiny due to its link to Libya’s former leader.While the rest of his group boarded their flight, Amer was left behind for security checks, and the plane took off without him.
Amer remained calm and determined, saying, “I won’t move unless it’s for Hajj.” He chose to wait at the airport, hoping the situation would change in his favor.

Surprising Twists in the Journey
Soon after Amer’s flight left without him, the plane ran into technical trouble and had to return to the airport. After repairs, it tried to take off again, but another problem forced a second return.After these issues, the pilot is said to have insisted, “I swear I won’t fly again unless Amer is with us on this plane.” At this point, authorities acted quickly to clear Amer for travel. On the third try, with Amer on board, the plane finally left without incident.
