Graham Greene, Star of ‘Dances With Wolves,’ Dies at 73

Gofrixty [3 September 2025] – Graham Greene, the Academy Award nominated actor best known for his role in Dances with Wolves, has died aged 73. He died Sept. 1, 2025, in Stratford, Ontario, from a long illness.

Greene rose to international attention in 1990 for his performance as Kicking Bird in the film Dances with Wolves. His performance received widespread acclaim, and he received an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actor. The part positioned him as one of the youngest up-and-coming actors of his generation, Indigenous or otherwise, to be recognized as a master of his trade and has helped pave the way for more First Nations talent to flourish in Hollywood.

Greene made a career that spanned film, television and stage over the years. His notable films included The Green Mile, Maverick and The Twilight Saga. He also played memorable parts on television in popular shows including Longmire, Reservation Dogs and The Last of Us. His talent for incorporating depth, dignity, and strength into every role made him an unforgettable talent in dramatic and lighter characters.
