Internet Services Going to Go Down for the Whole Day in Pakistan

Major outage today as PTCL positions to fix submarine link

PTCL said that this work is aimed at repairing an underwater cable fault distributor. The repair work is scheduled to start on 14 October at 11am (local time in Pakistan) and may take up 18 hours. We feel sorry for the service interruption you will experience during that period,” said the company in its announcement.

As the world begins to adapt, an increasing number of Pakistan people reported yesterday on Down detector that they are having difficulty accessing social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram. Statistics compiled by the platform’s data showed a surge of complaints about outages of late internet service by users in the last 24 hours.

This is not the first time that Pakistan’s internet services have suffered from cable problems and faults. PTCL cautioned last month that cable breaks in a Saudi waterway might lead to serious connectivity disruption at certain hours every day.

The stoppage comes on the heels of last weekend’s enforced shutdown of mobile internet services in Islamabad and Lahore. During two days of protests by the hard-line Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan, authorities completely suspended.
