Gofrixty [21 August 2025] – TV Judge Frank Caprio Frank Caprio, the adored TV judge whose popularity erupted with his 1999 show Caught in Providence, died Aug 20, 2025 at age 88. He died after a long fight with pancreatic cancer. And his death brought an era to a close for millions of fans who revered his kindness, fairness and human touch on the bench.
Caprio acquired fame not only for his rulings, but for his compassion toward ordinary people. In Caught in Providence, he repeatedly found ways to surprise viewers by tempering justice with mercy. Among some of the video clips, which showed him forgiving meager fines, listening to people’s struggles and cracking a joke or two on social media. He became a global icon with his individual style. He demonstrated that a judge could be disciplined and exacting, yet also deeply human.

Frank Caprio’s career wasn’t confined to television by a long shot. For decades he was a municipal court judge in Providence, R.I., universally respected in his community. He also spent a great deal of his life in public service and education, guiding students with scholarships and programs.
