Frontier Constabulary Federal Transformation: Govt Turns FC into Nationwide Force

Frontier Constabulary federal transformation is officially underway as the government has approved a major step to turn the Frontier Constabulary (FC) into a nationwide federal force.

The decision was made during a high-level meeting chaired by the Interior Ministry in Islamabad. Under this new plan, the FC which until now worked under provincial control- will shift to federal authority, gaining the power to operate across the country.

Officials say the transformation includes federal funding, improved training, and modern deployment systems. The goal is to make internal security stronger, improve coordination between agencies, and offer better support to law enforcement in areas dealing with serious threats.

As part of the Frontier Constabulary federal transformation, the government is also planning to amend the Frontier Constabulary Act. These changes will give the FC broader powers, allowing it to work in cities and regions where it previously had no legal presence.

The government originally formed the FC to secure the borders between tribal and settled areas. Now, with this transformation, it will also take part in counterterrorism efforts, fight organized crime, and help maintain public order across Pakistan.

Sources in the Interior Ministry say officials are finalizing a detailed plan. It outlines when and how the changes will roll out, including improvements in recruitment and upgrades in equipment. Authorities plan to release the full roadmap in the next few weeks.
