Experts have warned that the smell of a new car can increase people’s risk of developing cancer.
Scientists from Harvard and the Beijing Institute of Technology examined the air inside new cars parked outside for 12 days, after which they concluded that the smell of these cars is causing cancer.

According to the review, the amount of the cancer-causing chemical formaldehyde in the vehicles was thirty-five percent higher than the Chinese national safety standard. The amount of carcinogen acetaldehyde in the interior air of the vehicle was also found to be 61% above the prescribed safety limit.

The study also found that in levels of these dangerous chemicals increase during hot weather, scientists say, adding that these observations increase understanding of the chemical transport and emission systems inside the vehicle. .
