Gofrixty [24 July 2025] – Pam Bondi, a longtime ally and former attorney general of Florida, told Donald Trump in May that his name appeared in documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case, making it clear it would not be politically advantageous to pardon the financier posthumously, according to a person familiar with the conversation. The WSJ reported: “Bondi had two conversations with Trump on Friday before the files were released, advising him of what was coming.
Trump, who has denied any wrongdoing or a close relationship with Epstein, reportedly took Bondi’s warning in stride. He conceded the connection from previous social events, but said he severed relations with Epstein long before the financier became the focus of criminal investigations.
People close to Trump said his team had moved to devising public responses after Bondi raised the question. His legal and communications team reviewed the files to verify that no new accusations would surprise the president after the unsealing of the documents.
