Gofrixty [29 July 2025] – President Donald Trump has shortened the window he’s offering Russian President Vladimir Putin to accept a peace deal for Ukraine. Addressing reporters at his golf resort in Scotland, Trump indicated that he would now give Putin just “10 or 12 days” to agree to substantive negotiations. His previous 50-day deadline, issued two weeks ago, has been jettisoned because, he said, the two sides had made no progress whatsoever.
“This is a tragedy,” Trump said, noting that ordinary people in Ukraine are still being terrorized by daily attacks and that he is frustrated with Russia’s ongoing missile strikes on Ukrainian cities. “There’s no use hanging on. Too many people are dying, and there’s no fucking reason for that.” Trump made clear he wants action, not more speeches or promises.
The comments drew praise from Ukraine’s leadership, which welcomed Trump’s tough comments. Officials say they are encouraged that the United States is not wobbling on its demand for peace. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also thanked Trump for what he referred to as “pressure that serves to save lives.”
Trump suggested that if Putin does not comply by this new deadline, his administration is ready to roll out aggressive new economic sanctions. Those could range from heavy tariffs to further sanctions against countries that continue to do business with Russia.
