Start of Sea Trials
PNS Khaibar (F-282), a new warship for the Pakistan Navy, has started sea trials near Türkiye. This step moves Pakistan closer to its goal of building a modern and capable navy. The ship is part of the MILGEM project, which brings together Pakistan and Türkiye to build modern warships for Pakistan’s fleet.
A Strong Partnership
The PNS Khaibar is the third of four corvettes built by Türkiye’s ASFAT in partnership with the Pakistan Navy. Each ship is designed for several missions, including anti-submarine warfare and air defense. These corvettes carry advanced weapons, sensors, and radar, plus stealth features that help them avoid detection.
Officials from both countries say the sea trials show how much Pakistan and Türkiye have grown as defense partners. This collaboration is more than a shipbuilding project; it’s a sign of trust and teamwork. Once the Khaibar passes sea and weapons tests, the ship will join the fleet later this year.
