In another thrilling contest of the ongoing preseason International Champions Cup tie played in Maryland on Tuesday, Real Madrid manages to pull out a win against the English side Arsenal on penalties after the game ended in a 2-2 draw in the regular time.
The LaLiga Giants found themselves down 2-0 by the first half, as both teams had their defenders, Nacho Fernandez and Sokratis Papastathopoulos sent off in the 9th and the 40th minute of the game respectively, thanks to a goal each by Arsenal forwards Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Gunners controlled the first 45 minutes of the game, forcing Real Madrid’s manager Zinedine Zidane to replace his forward Jovich with a central defender Raphael Varane.
A half time change saw Zidane bringing in Gareth Bale, who’s very near towards the end of his career with the Spanish Giants, uplifted his team’s tempo and momentum with his energy-filled performance in the second half and managed to score a goal in the 53rd minute of the game, bringing Madrid back into the game. Three minutes later, Marco Asensio scored a brilliant goal from a difficult angle with his strong left foot, thanks to a cute little pass from the Brazilian left wing-back Marcelo, levelling the game with two goals each. Madrid finished the game on a high note but was unable to pull the third goal in the regular time, forcing the game into penalties.
