18 Starve to Death in 1 Day in Gaza

Gofrixty [21 July 2025] – A total of 18 people, including women and children, have died as a result of starvation in a single day in Gaza as the humanitarian crisis in the blockaded Palestinian enclave has deepened amid an ongoing blockade by Israel.Food is running desperately short, according to local health officials and aid agencies, and the risk of famine is fast increasing for thousands of people.

The deaths were reported from the north of Gaza, where humanitarian access has been seriously limited for weeks. The victims had become emaciated due to extreme malnutrition, overwhelmed hospital medical staff said, adding that many had already been weakened by months of forced displacement and insufficient health care.

An Israeli blockade, tightened after the conflict began, has restricted food, fuel and medical supplies, from entering the densely populated strip.Aid convoys that struggle to get to the most affected areas are delayed, obstructed and searched for long hours, giving rise to additional shortages.

International humanitarian groups, as well as the United Nations, have sounded the alarm about the situation.A recent UN statement said Gaza was grappling with “unprecedented rates of food insecurity” and warned that the territory could soon be on the brink of a full-blown famine if immediate assistance is not allowed in.

Families across Gaza are now left to subsist on whatever little food they can find, eating once a day or not at all.The hardest hit are children, of whom many suffer from growth stunting and severe dehydration.Even basic items like bread, milk and clean water are nearly impossible to find in some areas, aid workers say.

The international demand of a humanitarian ceasefire has intensified, as pressure has increased on Israel to loosen restrictions and to open up for immediate aid delivery. On the other hand, the locals call on international communities not to ignore their anguish.

The continued blockade and increasing death toll depict a dark reality to a man-made disaster that is getting worse by the day.Without urgent action, thousands of lives will continue to be lost to hunger and preventable diseases.
