Israel War on Gaza – 60,000 Flee Shujayea Street Battles

War on Gaza

War on Gaza: June 29, 2024: The recent Israeli ground offensive in Gaza City’s Shujayea neighbourhood displaced approximately 60,000 civilians, escalating the war. Due to street fighting, UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric says these residents have fled their homes. Israel’s military operations in al-Mawasi, southern Gaza, have displaced 5,000 people and killed several. This has been reported by AlJazera and many other big outlets confirming the reports.

Overnight Israeli military strikes on Gaza City residential dwellings killed six individuals, including four children. These attacks injured at least 15. The violence also hit central Gaza’s Maghazi refugee camp, killing more people, according to Palestinian news agency WAFA.

Both sides have suffered in the war. As Palestinian armed organizations fight Israeli forces in Shujayea, four Israeli soldiers were killed and five wounded. These clashes indicate how severe the conflict is, which shows no signs of abating.

Gaza’s humanitarian situation is severe. The UN agency for Palestinian refugees calls conditions “unbearable,” with many residents living in bombed-out structures and improvised tent camps next to foul trash. Starvation and disease fears are worsening civilians’ predicament.
