Gofrixty [11 September 2025] – Charlie Kirk was giving a lecture at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025, when a gunman shot him in the back of the neck from a rooftop. He spoke to roughly 3,000 students beneath a white tent as part of his “American Comeback Tour.” In a matter of minutes he collapsed. Witnesses observed blood pouring from his neck and a throngs of people fleeing the site.
Campus police and federal agents responded swiftly. Police cordoned off spots and began a manhunt. Officials took two people into custody early in the investigation, but later released both. The suspect is still officially listed as at large.
The Utah Governor, Spencer Cox, called the attack a “political assassination” and vowed to bring the killer to justice. He also voiced shock and sadness at the state press briefing.

On social media, President Trump praised Kirk as “legendary” and a “martyr for truth and freedom.” Until Sunday evening he ordered American flags to be flown at half-staff. Even as Trump and other Republicans attempted to distance the president’s words and actions from the events at the Capitol, many GOP and Democratic leaders at home condemned the killing and called for unity against political violence.
