Pakistan Blames India for Khuzdar Bus Attack, Cites Use of Militant Proxies

Balochistan and Bus AttackOn the tragic bus attack in Khuzdar, Balochistan, the Pakistani authorities have ramped up the blame game against India; reportedly, it has accused India that that attack was masterminded by Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) with Indian backing to cause unrest in the region. The offensive, which left several innocent civilians dead, has been widely comprehended to be condemned and has sparked a national outcry for justice.

“From the information that is coming out from investigation, the involvement of foreign hand is clear and India is backing them,” officials said. Pakistan’s security establishment sources insists that they have concrete proof that leads Indian intelligence agencies for nothing less than coordinating and financing both, BLA and TTP. These groups, which Pakistan has designated as terrorists, have been behind several attacks in recent years, mostly attacking military convoys, infrastructure projects and civilians in Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Government officials stressed that Pakistan would provide hard evidence of Indian links to terror groups at international fora including the United Nations to unmask India’s nefarious role in the region. The Foreign Office has also indicated that it would approach friendly countries to enhance pressure on India and hold it accountable for promoting cross-border terrorism.

The Khuzdar bus attack incident is the latest in a series of militant attacks which Pakistan says are planned by foreign intelligence agencies based in Afghanistan and other border areas. It not only badly affects Pakistan’s internal security but also poses a threat to the regional peace, officials say of such incidents.

As the probe gets underway, Pakistani leaders has promised to crack down on the perpetrators and their sponsors. In the meantime, Islamabad seems to have also once again returned to intensifying border monitoring and intelligence cooperation with the neighbouring countries to ensure its territory is not used for foreign-sponsored acts of terror.
