According to media reports, Mohammad Rizwan has not signed the Pakistan Cricket Board’s central contract for 2025–26 and has asked the board for clarification after being moved from Category A to Category B.

The PCB announced central contracts for 30 players running from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, placing players into Categories B, C and D and, unusually for this cycle, leaving Category A vacant.

Both Rizwan and Babar Azam were in Category A last season but in the new structure, they were shunted into Category B—a move that has aroused queries from senior players.

According to these reports, Rizwan is refusing to sign the deal till he has an explanation from the PCB. Although already signed deals have been announced by other contracted players.

The change in contracts has followed a period of vigorous alteration in Pakistan’s white ball setup. Adding weight to the argument over PCB selection and reward policies is the timing of central contract change and captaincy shifts.

What happens next will hinge on how the board responds to Rizwan’s question. If the PCB supplies a formal explanation, the player might sign very soon; if not, the disagreement could take public form between a senior international player and the board.

For the moment, however, Rizwan is the single high-profile name apparently to have not signed the new list.
