Gofrixty [29 July 2025] – In Gaza, hunger can no longer be called a condition — it has become a tool. Israel’s blockade has deprived over two million Palestinians of food, water and medicine, as the conflict has escalated. But it is the babies who are the most heartbreaking victims. Supply routes are cut, aid is blocked, children perish not from bombs but from empty stomachs.
Hospitals are overcrowded with emaciated weak children. Most babies come in with hollow eyes, dry skin, and almost no weight. These symptoms tell doctors something, and tell them quite clearly: starvation. Newborns cannot be nursed because their mothers haven’t eaten in days. Having no formula, no clean water and no baby food, children under the age of one have been dying in droves.
This was something that aid organizations had been warning for months would happen. They have demanded urgent access to food and medicine. But little has changed, despite international pressure. Trucks carrying food wait for days at closed borders. Those allowed in bring nowhere near enough to feed everyone.
