Government Announces Large Drop in Petrol Prices

For the next fortnight the price of petrol will be down by Rs 5.66 a liter for a total decrease to Rs 263.02-lower than its previous level of Rs 268.68.

The price of MS (petrol) will be cut to Rs 263.02 per liter from the previous level of Rs 268.68.

For high-speed diesel, fines of Rs 1.39 per litre have been imposed and the commodity is now be sold at Rs 275.41 per litre. kerosene Pasto (SKO) has been lowered by Rs 3.26 and will now be sold at Rs 181.71 per litre whereas light diesel oil (LD) is going for Rs 162.76 a litre after a drop of Rs 2.74.

According to the Ministry of Finance, these adjustments are meant to relieve public burden and invigorate economic activity by reducing transportation and production costs.

Following recommendations from Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and discussions with relevant Ministries, the decision will take effect from 16 October 2025. This is part of the government’s routine review on petroleum prices and its aim is to pass on benefits from changing international oil prices to people at large.

The new prices will be in force from October 16, 2025.
