The government has started refunding some Rs 3.45 billion to pilgrims who performed Haj this year under the regular government scheme. The Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousuf announced the development. Shades of between Rs. 12,000 to Rs 110,000 will be refunded between 75% (66,000 people out of 84,960) by October 31. According to official sources, the government has approved a relief package to cut electricity tariffs in both industry and agriculture. The sources predict that the cost of electricity will probably fall by more than Rs. 10 per unit under the plan – which will give three year discounts on extra power use to encourage higher load factors and greater production efficiency.
