Gofrixty [06 August 2025] – Following an exciting T20I series, Pakistan and West Indies are gearing up for the 3-match ODI series set to get underway on August 8th, 2025 at Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Trinidad. Both teams are keen to build the rhythm into Asia Cup and Champions Trophy respectively, so Pakistan could walk into this series as a bit of favourites.
Pakistan thrashed West Indies in the T20I opener and looked better balanced and more competitive. Interestingly, Saim Ayub, Mohammad Nawaz, and Shaheen Afridi have been the ones to shine. In their ODI squad as well the senior heads of Babar Azam, Imam-ul-Haq, and Shadab Khan are expected to deliver the experience and composure necessary in crunch situations.
However, West Indies are now rebuilding. They have some incredible hitters like Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell, but the inconsistencies remain by all means and their weak bowling depth is a recipe which keeps them under pressure in the longer formats. ODIs have been a mixed bag recently, and their bowlers particularly tend to forget their lines in critical situations.
