Ali Amin Gandapur has resigned as the Chief Minister of KPK in what many observers are calling a dramatic political transformation of the province. The move followed directives by PTI founder Imran Khan to resign, ushering in a new phase of party leadership.
Gandapur, who had been CM since the beginning of 2024, tendered his resignation to KPK governor. In his statement, he said the Chief Minister office was a “trust” reposed in him by Imran Khan and that he was now returning the trust according to party directives. His exit has reverberated through Pakistan’s political grapevine, he was known for his strong personality and brash allegiance to the PTI leadership.
PTI, it has been reported, that Sohail Afridi will be the next CM. Afridi is a member of the provincial assembly and experienced politician. And said to be close to the top leadership of his party. His induction is being viewed as part of the efforts to manage affairs within the party and improving coordination between provincial government and PTI’s central leadership.

Party sources said the decision was not aimed at promoting division. But they were on a sort of ‘restructuring’ to political setup in the KPK. He said Gandapur was an asset of the party and is still a respected worker of PTI. Who could be assigned any other national assignment. Back in Dera Ismail Khan and across the province, his supporters are both happy and unhappy with him. Some said he did well to follow party discipline but others believe that he should have remained on the seat of CM.
