In a thrilling finish to the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) season, the Lahore Qalandars sealed their third PSL title as they pulled off the highest-ever chase in T20s against the Quetta Gladiators at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on May 25, 2025. The Qalandars chased down a challenging target of 202 in 20 overs with six wickets in hand to record the biggest successful chase in a final in PSL history.
It was a game of talent and nerves, primarily about Kusal Perera, the Player of the Match for his spin-choked and straight bat innings, which was the only thread that held Lahore’s chase together. There was a coolness under pressure about Perera that was crucial in beating such a stiff target, especially after a couple of early wickets.
But would you believe it, Mohammad Naeem a pretender in Pakistani cricket, only accelerated the matter as soon as he stepped up to the crease and rattled of a blistering 46 from 27 balls, studded with six massive sixes. His aggressive and intent changed the tide in Lahore’s favor in the middle overs and gave the team the momentum.

Compounding the spectacle was the dramatic announcement of the arrival of Sikandar Raza, the experienced Zimbabwean all-rounder. Raza only arrived in Lahore 10 minutes before the toss, having played a Test match in England just a few days earlier. He was jet-lagged but kept the focus, and with it the match – and an unforgettable victory for the Qalandars.
It’s Lahore’s third PSL title, victorious in 2022 and 2023. It wasn’t a straight line to the final for them — they were fourth in the group stage, very nearly missing the playoffs. But the side showed strong comeback beating Karachi Kings and Islamabad United in the eliminators to make it to the final.
And this season — after the war-delayed 2025 P.S.L. — has given us arguably the greatest climax to a tournament since its inception. But Lahore Qalandars win has added not chunk to their historical existence but has also shown depth of talent, planning and above all determination, which is hallmark of Qalandars.
