Imran’s Sons Meet Trump Aide to Launch US Campaign to Free Father

Gofrixty [24 July 2025] – Imran Khan’s sons Sulaiman and Qasim had a meeting with a top aide of former US president Donald Trump in Washington to initiate a high-level lobbying exercise for the release of their father. The sons came to the United States this week to generate international pressure on the government in Pakistan in advance of national elections.

They also talked with Richard Grenell, a staunch Trump ally who served as acting Director of National Intelligence. Grenell met with the two privately and they discussed Imran Khan’s political persecution and legal challenges. The sons had earlier said their father was in prison on spurious charges and due to political reasons.

Grenell posted a photo with the boys and his support on social media after the meeting. And he wrote that the world must denounce for democracy and the rule of law in Pakistan. Grenell also cautioned against the political witch-hunt and the Imran Khan’s contribution to democracy.

Sulaiman and Qasim pressed on with their campaign, meeting with legislators, think tank personnel and journalists. They went to Capitol Hill and spoke with officials who work on foreign policy. The two described how the current government in Pakistan has clamped down on the opposition and used legal institutions as a tool. They noted that their father had been silenced by authorities for resisting military intervention and advocating for transparent elections.

The visit coincided with a series of rallies staged by supporters of Imran Khan in the US Pakistani diaspora. Protesters stood outside the Pakistani Embassy with PTI flags, chanting slogans demanding Imran Khan’s freedom. The sons thanked them and urged the community to continue making some noise.

PTI leaders acknowledged the meeting and lauded the sons for supporting their father at a crucial time. Sulaiman and Qasim will also visit human rights groups in New York before returning, party officials said.

As elections loom in Pakistan, Mr. Khan’s family is now looking to cultivate support from United States politicians and the international stage. They are convinced that international scrutiny could help bring justice and reveal political vendettas being played back home.
