Fate of Elected Representatives of Pakistan – 1948-2023. When Pakistan became a country on August 14th, 1947, to form the largest Muslim state in the world at that time. The creation of Pakistan was catalyst to the largest demographic movement in recorded history.
Just one year after Pakistan got its independence, father of the nation, the person who is a hero for every Pakistani, was taking his last breaths in a military ambulance and it ran short of petrol. The Father of the nation was lying helpless waiting for another ambulance. Although he did not take his last breath in ambulance, but this incident in itself was a case of gross negligence and a message for future leaders of the nation.
In 1951
Prime Minister of Pakistan was shot dead by a person named Akbar who was declared as Afghan national by Pakistan, a claim denied by Afghan government. Till date the mystery of the murder has not been solved. In 1963 Hussein Shaheed Suhrawardy was also found dead in a Beirut hotel till date reason of death is unknown. Ms. Fatima Jinnah, who contested and lost Presidential election against General Ayub Khan was also found dead on her bed in July 1967 According to Sardar Shaukat Hayat a senior leader of Muslim League who attended the funeral of Ms. Jinnah said she had strangulation marks on her neck, but no conclusive investigation has been done on the matter.
In April 1979
Former Prime minister of Pakistan Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto (ZAB) was hanged after Lahore High Court gave death sentence in Muhammad Ahmad Khan Kasuri murder case. The FIR of the case was registered in 1974 and the judgement was rendered on 6th Feb 1979. 32 Years later Asif Ali Zardari, sent a presidential reference to Supreme Court. Subsequently, Supreme Court constituted an 11-judge bench to revisit the case, during few proceedings of the revisit, Honorable Judges gave few observations on the flaws of investigation but the case was shelved after some time and no result of the revisit has came till date.
